Gloves & Glory is lucky to have Olympians, Common wealth medalists, Ugandan boxing legends, and lads on the national teal (the bombers) on our coaching & training team. So you’re in amazing hands, particularly if you are really keen to learn the sport and dvelop your techniques.

Head Coaches

Hassan Khalil

Hassan started East Coast Boxing Club, Naguru, with his twin brother Hussein. East Coast is one of the best amateur boxing clubs in Uganda, and trained boys and girls that made the national team, the Olympics and even bought back medals from the Commonwealth games. Hassan is a legendary coach and also has a legendary fight record for Uganda too 

 

 

 

Patrick Lihanda       

Patrick is an double Olympian, having competed in the 1984 & 1988 Olympic games for Uganda. He’s also the head coach of the National team, “The Bombers”.

Hassan & Patrick, as well as developing your talents, are also developing the talents of our youth boxers too. watch this space!

Coaches & Trainers

Miro Juma

Recently bought back a bronze medal from the Common wealth games for Uganda.

Trained up at East Coast Boxing Club by Hassan & Hussein, he’s still boxing, and thinking about turning pro. He coaches at KCCA & we are please to have him in our team at Gloves and Glory too.

 

 

John Baptiste

Also trained at East Coast, John Baptist is on the national team the bombers. This photo was taken in January 2020 when he convincingly beat his opponent from the Police team.

East Coat got a clean sweep a this friendly tournament, winning 12 out of 12 of the fights!

 

 

Amin Yusuf

Another great Ugandan boxer on the National team, training at KCCA and Gloves & Glory!
